"Single and Ready to Mingle"... But Not With Just Anyone

"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." Proverbs 4:23

In 23 days I will be packing up and heading out towards a new chapter in my life... College: The place where everything gets more serious... studies, friendships, relationships...

One thing I've noticed about college from both observing friends and family members go through it and from beginning the process of starting college myself, is that there is so much pressure to have a ring on your finger by the time you leave. This pressure is so intense that people have started dating the first person to ask them out and have completely stopped waiting for someone with the right qualities to come along into their life that would be a compatible spouse. They have stopped trusting God's timing and have started making their own.

Now please do not get me wrong here, I want to find my husband more than anything... but I will not go out with tons and tons of guys just to find him. I want to guard my heart and save it for a man who is worthy enough to have it. My heart is a treasure. When I see these girls just giving their heart out willy nilly all the time, it breaks mine. It's so hard for me to imagine just settling for any guy that comes along and wants to tell me I'm pretty... I want a man who will treasure me... And God has an amazing man out there for me. I am trusting His timing on this.

I am so ready to be in a relationship, to find that someone that I want to spend my life with... but I am waiting on the right man with the right qualities to pursue me. A man of God. I have high standards, I will admit it, but in my opinion having high standards and finding a man who will treasure me is so much better than settling on someone just to get married at the world's definition of the "right time."
